Editorial Policy

Our mission
44Finance publishes independent, fact-based informational content about consumer loans and lending services across multiple European markets. We are not a financial institution and do not issue loans. Our editorial team prioritises clarity, comparability, and consumer safety so that readers can make informed borrowing decisions.
Editorial independence
Our editorial content is produced independently of our commercial partnerships. While 44Finance may receive compensation when users click outbound links to lender websites, this does not influence:
- Which lenders appear in our comparisons
- The order in which offers are ranked (governed by our rating methodology)
- The factual accuracy of data presented on any page
- Whether a lender receives a "Recommended" badge
If a commercial partner's terms change in a way that affects our rankings, we update the comparison accordingly, even if it results in a lower position for that partner.
Content creation process
Every piece of published content follows a structured workflow:
- Research: the author collects data from primary sources — lender terms pages, public regulatory filings, and official API feeds.
- Drafting: the content is written with a focus on accuracy, neutral tone, and practical usefulness for the reader.
- Fact-check: all numeric claims (APR, fees, limits, periods) are cross-referenced against the source data according to our fact-checking policy.
- Review: a second team member reviews the draft for completeness, consistency with existing content, and editorial guidelines.
- Publication: the final version is published with a visible "last updated" date and the author name when applicable.
Author and reviewer standards
- Authors must have demonstrable knowledge of consumer finance topics in the relevant market.
- Reviewers operate independently from authors and verify both factual claims and editorial quality.
- No single individual can both write and approve the same piece of content without a second review.
Affiliate disclosure
44Finance participates in affiliate partnerships with some of the lenders featured on the site. When a user clicks an outbound link and submits a loan application on the lender's website, 44Finance may receive a referral commission. This commercial relationship is disclosed in the site footer and does not affect our editorial ratings or recommendations. Users are never charged more because they arrived via 44Finance.
Updates and corrections
We aim to keep all published data current. When lender terms change, we update the affected pages during the next review cycle:
- Routine updates: lender data is reviewed on a recurring schedule. If data exceeds the freshness threshold, it is flagged as stale in comparisons.
- Corrections: if an inaccuracy is identified — by our team or by a reader — we correct the page as soon as possible and log the change internally.
- Material changes: significant corrections (e.g. APR adjustment, product withdrawal) trigger a timestamp update visible on the page.
Feedback and error reporting
